Couples Workshop for North Dakota Residents
The Relationship Skills Bootcamp
Relationships don't break down overnight. The distance builds slowly. Small resentments pile up. Communication breaks down. Before you know it, you're living parallel lives — together but alone.
If you're a couple in North Dakota — Fargo, Bismarck, Grand Forks, Minot — you already know how limited your options are for intensive relationship help. There aren't many high-quality marriage workshops nearby or intensive support. That's why North Dakota couples make the trip to Edina, Minnesota.
Fargo to Edina is about 3.5 hours. Bismarck is about 6.5 hours. It's a drive, yes. But what you'll learn in two days could save your relationship.
I'm Sarah Borrell, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist certified in Relational Life Therapy (RLT). The Relationship Skills Bootcamp is a two-day intensive workshop that teaches practical communication and intimacy skills. It's based on the work of Terry Real, whose approach is known for creating rapid, lasting change. This isn't theory. It's tools you can use right away.
The Relationship Workshop North Dakota Couples Have Been Looking For
Let's be honest: there aren't many options in North Dakota for intensive couples work. Weekly therapy is helpful, but it takes time. And when you're struggling, time feels like a luxury you don't have.
The Bootcamp is different. It's immersive. You get two full days of focused learning — no distractions, no interruptions. You step out of your daily routine and invest in your relationship.
Most North Dakota couples who attend tell me the same thing: they wish they'd done it sooner. The skills are practical. The format is efficient. And the results are immediate.
By the end of day two, you'll have a shared language for talking about what's not working, specific tools to stop fights before they spiral, and hope that things can actually change.
Two Days That Can Transform Your Relationship
The Bootcamp is structured over two full days:
Day One - You'll learn where your patterns come from. Why you react the way you do. How your past shapes how you show up today. You'll see your relationship — and yourself — with fresh eyes.
Day Two - You'll learn the practical tools that repair conflict and rebuild intimacy. You'll practice together (if you came as a couple) or with other participants (if you came solo). You'll leave knowing exactly what to do differently.
This isn't group therapy. You won't be asked to share private details about your relationship. The focus is entirely on learning — teaching, discussion, and hands-on practice.

What You'll Learn at the Bootcamp
The workshop teaches the core skills that keep relationships healthy:
The Five Losing Strategies — the automatic patterns that kill connection (defensiveness, blame, withdrawal) and how to recognize them before they take over
The Five Winning Strategies — the communication skills that actually work to repair conflict and rebuild closeness
The Feedback Wheel — a 4-step process for saying hard things clearly and without blame
How to listen when you're triggered — instead of defending yourself or planning your comeback
How to set boundaries without shutting down — protecting yourself while staying connected
Open to Couples and Individuals
The Bootcamp is for:
Couples who keep having the same fight and want real tools to break the cycle
Engaged couples who want to build a strong foundation before marriage
Individuals who want to understand their patterns and show up differently in all their relationships
Couples who feel more like roommates than partners and want to reconnect
Expecting parents who want to build a healthy relational home for their child
You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to show up.
The Relationship Bootcamp is held in Edina, MN — about 3.5 hours from Fargo.

No. The Bootcamp is based on Relational Life Therapy, which incorporates spirituality but does not have a religious orientation. That said, participants come from many religions and no religions and the practices can be incorporated alongside your beliefs. All couples are welcome regardless of faith background, sexual orientation, or relationship configuration.

The Bootcamp can complement ongoing therapy. Many couples do the workshop to build a foundation, then continue with their therapist to go deeper. The skills you learn here will make therapy more effective.
